Reiki is a non-invasive gentle energy healing approach using universal life force energy (Rei-Ki) through the laying of the hands on the body and the body's energy centres, also known as chakras. Reiki is an energy healing technique using the universal life force energy that is found in all things, to help work with you and your own energy. This energy is within us all, and due to stress, toxins and dis-ease in the body, this energy can become out of balanced and stagnant. It helps to heal and balance all levels of the body – physical, emotional and spiritual. Through the practitioner's stationary hand placements on or above the body, this life force energy triggers our Parasympathetic Nervous System. This is our 'Rest and Repair' state that our bodies are meant to go through during restful sleep. The Parasympathetic Nervous System allows our body to do what they are meant to, which is heal itself. However, due to everyday stresses, we rarely enter into this state during sleep. Reiki is not affiliated with a particular religion, however, has been practiced for thousands of years. The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to help ease tension, stress, anxiety and support the body in facilitating its own healing process. ​For your session, you will be fully clothed and your practitioner will apply light touch, as well as hands-off techniques where the hands are hovering close to the body. Your practitioner will move through the standard Reiki hand positions, but may also work on different areas that require some attention as well. As a recipient, you may feel the practitioner's hands are very warm, perhaps notice your body is warmer or may even get colder, experience tingling sensations, or simply find your point of relaxation.
